Time Management: Increase productivity & stay organization with a solid, realistic to-do list

Journyx Project Mangement Blog refers us to a useful article at PROJECTMagazine discussing the Top Four Time Managament issues. Think you know what the big four time management issues are? I have to say, I was a bit surprised:
Talk with most anyone and ask them what they think are the top issues in time management and you will get answers such as, “Having a well prepared “to do” list”, “Managing multiple priorities”, “Managing Meeting time”, “Handling the flood of paperwork and emails”. All are good responses but overlook the top four time management issues that, in combination with one another, can do more to keep you from having, doing or being what you want and deserve.

They are: ineffective relationships, a poor attitude, being flat out tired, and the weather.

Author Dr. Donald E. Wetmore makes his case for each of the pints listed and I found his opinions quite interesting. I particularly liked his thoughts on poor attitude:
A poor attitude. It has been said that your attitude will determine your altitude in life’s successes. With a poor attitude you become discouraged and demoralized and your performance goes down. Moreover, a negative person tends to repel positive people, whom you need to boost you up, and they tend to attract other negative people who will bring you down with their stories of misery and failure. “You got a flat tire? Well I got two flat tires! You think you have it bad? I have it worse!” Imagine. Two people having a debate about who has the worse life.
Check out the rest of the article and see if you agree with Wetmore. Do you have a time management issue to add? I would probably have noted two items already mentioned in the beginning of the article: Managing multiple priorities and Meeting time. They might not be on this particular top four list, but I think any PM, manager, employee would agree that 1. The more you have to juggle the more likely it is something will get dropped, and 2. Poorly managed meetings suck the productivity (and life) out of organizations every day. I have to say I'm a list lover - I get satisfaction from writing things down - it gives me clarity on what needs to be done - and checking off even the most simplistic tasks gives a sense of accomplishment. I enjoy looking over my list the next day to see what was accomplished, what remains and where open tasks fit in with the days priorities. Perhaps it's the control freak in me that gets satisfaction over this daily ritual but I like to think it's a useful system that puts my mind at ease, knowing what the day ahead will hold.
