A project manager needs to be aware of what is happening and how things happen, so that they can act accordingly. They can steer the project away from trouble and be both vital and effective.

The project manager is also a natural process, so being aware of how things happen includes being self aware. Your life unfolds according to the same principle that governs every other unfolding. You are rooted in the common ground of all creation. Being like everything else means that you are ordinary, but consciously knowing that you are like everything else is extraordinary.

The wise project manager knows that universality works and having the sense to act accordingly is the source of their power, their endurance and their excellence. Consciousness or awareness, then, is the source of your ability. So learn to become increasingly conscious, for this is the way of the project manager.

The Tao
Lao Tsu tells us:

In caring for others and serving heaven,
There is nothing like using restraint.
Restraint begins with giving up one’s own ideas.
This depends on Virtue gathered in the past.
If there is a good store of Virtue, then nothing is impossible.
If nothing is impossible, then there are no limits.
If a man knows no limits, then he is fit to be a ruler.
The mother principle of ruling holds good for a long time.
This is called having deep roots and a firm foundation,
The Tao of long life and eternal vision.
